This is my first participation in an open networked learning adventure with ONL221. I joined this course at a time when I was in the middle of a busy schedule. It's been quite a hectic period over the past month due to a project I had embarked on to create an e-learning course, and I had seconds thoughts about continuing my ONL journey. I am glad I stayed on and slowly but surely managed to get my time management back on track to cope with the workload. Thanks to my PBL group facilitators and members who has been very accommodating and easy to work with!

Nuances of Open Educational Practices

As I embark on the learning journey on open learning, here 's some of my take-aways from the topic 2 webinar on sharing and openness where the guest speaker Bali Maha shared with us her experiences and thought-provoking insights.  1. Cupcake Story - Maha shared the cupcake story in which her daughter' went to her best friend's birthday party and was served with cupcakes that had used her creative work - a set of customized pictures that she had created based on a popular game. Her daughter was upset not because her friend had not sought her permission, but because she was not acknowledged for her work.  What I learned here is openness is more than just sharing or getting permission to share. It's also important for us to know how creators intend for their work to be used or reused.  2. Water and Air - Maha shared a quote from an Egyptian educator and author Taha Hussein - "Knowledge is like water and air."  The following lists some of the perspectives shared

Student-Centered Learning At Scale With Blended Learning

Over the course of my ONL journey, it's been a wonderful exploration into the world of online and blended learning. I am finding useful application of what I am learning on this journey to my work on a new teaching module for the upcoming semester in August. This module will be delivered using the blended learning approach which integrates technology and digital media with digital whiteboards for group activities, such as short videos, readings, online quizzes, assignments, and online group discussions.  Because of the large cohort of students for this teaching module, the challenge for this module is to design a student-centered learning experience at scale using a blended learning approach. I've applied many strategies and concepts I learned on my ONL journey to the new teaching module's design to create a blended collaborative digital learning platform, which includes the Problem-Based Learning or PBL teaching strategy, the FISh model (Focus, Investigate and Share), and
